Book Covers

Hello Authors!

I have been designing mostly Young Adult (YA) Book Covers for over 2 years now. My first, started with the first trilogy by author Raine Thomas Daughters of Saraqael. From those three covers I was contacted by Indie Authors from all over asking me my availability to do their covers next! It’s been a new, creative and exciting world for me, and one I have really enjoyed. I think my strongest skill is taking what an author has in mind and bringing it to life visually, and in a way that they might not have even thought of. I created this page on my blog to inform potential authors of my policies, contract information and basic cost for cover art, as well as an updated schedule of what I’m currently working on. Cover Design Cost:  $400  (prices CAN vary based off of time and detail, but will be discussed on a individual client basis. This is a FRONT cover/eBook cover only.).

Cost Includes: 1 final photoshop version of the book cover file at high quality printer ready high resolution; 1 eBook ready sized image for online bookstores such as Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, etc.; 1 medium sized file for your personal website and online promotion; communication time between author and designer; designer creation time; branding of author, book/book series.

*High quality images may need to be purchased in the process, and those costs may come as an extra charge for you. This is so that you may purchase and own the licensing rights. But don’t worry, this will be discussed and confirmed with each author prior to purchase.

** Back cover design available at an additional cost of $100 per book.

*** FULL Book cover (front, back and spine) design available for $500/book.

Once you have contacted me and sent your payment and signed contract to me, we will start to begin the process of the cover design and collaboration. I will NEED the following information sent to:
nimbiportland@gmail.com to help me get started and better understand what you are looking for:

1. Please send me a short synopsis of your book. Including character names and physical descriptions, age, etc.
2. Title of your book, including any other information: author name, subtitle, book version, series name, etc.
3. To help me grasp what style you like and envision, please send me 5-10 examples of current covers you absolutely love and might see your book next to on a shelf. (This also helps me know how to make YOURS stand out in a group).
4. Help me see who your characters and scenes are in your mind, visit websites such as iStockphoto or Shutterstock (recommended) to send me links to images you see as the faces for your characters or your scenery, items in the cover etc. (you will see there the cost of the quality of photos, usually a letter sized (8.5″x11″) image is the largest you’ll need to ever go, and sometimes can get away with even smaller…these will be details we can figure out in communication).
5. If you are interested in custom photography, I have a list of very talented local photographers that I work with that can give you a price list and we can work out those additional costs during our conversations.
6. A description of what you want your cover to be like, what do you envision?
7. Your timeline. Obviously VERY important. When do you NEED to have the cover done by? Whats your book cover reveal or release date.
8. Don’t forget…A signed copy of your contract.

From all this information we can come up with a design together, that will be uniquely your own, will stand out in a book store online or on a shelf next to its competition.
